Camp Goals

A camp ideal for players who are intermediate to advanced players. It is a unique squash camp. We are training at the Scottish National Headquarters of Squash, coached by the National Scottish Coaches; we train with the National Scottish Junior and Senior Squads in a two week camp directed personally by 23 year Ivy League Coach Stuart le Gassick. The mix of US, European, World and Scottish junior campers add immensely to the camper's enjoyment of the camp, both on and off the courts. (leGassickSquash Camps have no more than 18 campers in their group at Heriot Watt so that there is plenty of personal attention for each camper throughout the two weeks).

Campers will see their games taken to another level within the confines of the National Training Center. The first week of camp concludes with the Heriot Watt Junior Squash Open to be held at the Heriot Watt Squash Centre on July 13-15th. This tournament attracts top Scottish, World and European Junior Squash players. The entry fees are included in the cost of the camp.

Given the location of the camp campers will be able to take advantage of the City of Edinburgh, situated in the beautiful East of Scotland.  The City is a simple 22 minute double decker bus ride from the Heriot Watt campus.  There are a number of wonderful tourist attractions that the group will enjoy. We will also visit St. Andrews - the 'Home of Golf' and a beautiful ancient town -  just north of Edinburgh and we are planning to visit the 2013  'Open' golf at Muirfield 40minutes from Edinburgh (July 18-21).

Coaches:

Roger Flynn:  The Scottish National Coach is regarded as one of the leading and most innovative squash coaches in the world.
Claire Kidd:  Scottish Women's Number One and UKCC Level 3 Coach

About the Area

Edinburgh Castle dominates the city center skyline and from its ramparts you can look down on medieval lanes and elegant, sweeping terraces that hold over a thousand years of history, mystery and tradition. Yet you will also see a modern, dynamic capital where international festivals attract the world's leading performers, galleries display cutting-edge art,  restaurants and clubs create a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere with a distinctly Scottish twist.

'Edinburgh,' said writer Robert Louis Stevenson, 'is what Paris ought to be'.
